As part of the Palm Garden Hotel’s renovation in Thousand Oaks, California, Plantworks was brought in to craft a biophilic statement that would greet guests the moment they entered the newly redesigned lobby. The result is a layered botanical art installation that blends lush foliage textures with dimensional paneling and the hotel’s branding—creating both a sense of place and a photo-worthy moment.
The vertical green wall was custom-designed to:
Frame the “PALM” name using negative space and layered foliage
Integrate a mix of inherently fire-retardant (IFR) plant materials in varied species and tones
Add natural contrast to the hotel’s contemporary palette of leather, wood, stone, and glass
Provide a low-maintenance yet high-impact design feature for a high-traffic guest environment
Framed by textured stone and flanked by mid-century-inspired lounge chairs, the greenery softens the architecture and reinforces the Palm Garden’s identity as a warm, welcoming, California-chic retreat.
