One of NATUREMAKER®’s signature capabilities is wrapping structural support columns with the steel armature of the tree itself. Rather than placing a freestanding tree next to a column, the tree becomes the column.
This approach conceals concrete or I-beam columns and turns structural elements into design opportunities. It works particularly well for large-span lobbies, airport terminals, and retrofit projects where columns are already in place and cannot be removed.
At Fresno Yosemite International Airport, NATUREMAKER® custom-engineered 25-foot column-clad sequoias to wrap the terminal’s existing structural columns, creating an immersive forest-trail experience complete with an understory of pine saplings, boulders, native plantings, and interpretive signage.
