A Grand Palm Atrium Designed for Arrival, Scale, and Atmosphere
At Diplomat Miami, Treescapes® helped transform the hotel’s expansive glass atrium into a dramatic indoor palm environment — one that feels open, elegant, and deeply connected to the coastal character of South Florida.
The project features Washingtonia Robusta Palm Trees with preserved fronds, arranged throughout the lobby to create a soaring architectural landscape beneath the glass ceiling. Their tall, slender trunks rise through the atrium with impressive vertical scale, while the preserved palm crowns bring natural texture, movement, and softness into the space.
Rather than functioning as simple greenery, the palms become part of the hotel’s identity. They guide the eye upward, emphasize the height of the atrium, and create a resort-like rhythm across the lobby. Positioned among lounge seating, sculptural artwork, warm lighting, and polished flooring, the trees help turn the arrival experience into something immersive and memorable.
The use of preserved fronds gives the installation an authentic botanical presence while allowing the palms to maintain their beauty in a controlled interior environment. The result is a lush, permanent landscape that delivers the feeling of mature palms without the complexity of maintaining live trees at this scale.
From daytime light pouring through the atrium roof to evening illumination across the lobby, the Washingtonia palms create a sense of destination. They soften the architecture, frame the guest experience, and bring a tropical elegance that feels perfectly at home in Hollywood, Florida.
