At JOEY La Jolla, NatureMaker® created a Steel Mediterranean Olive tree that brings the character and presence of a mature tree directly into the restaurant’s diningm environment.
The tree’s substantial trunk and expansive branching structure stretch across the space, forming a broad canopy above the surrounding booths and tables. Rich green foliage introduces an organic layer beneath the linear wood ceiling, while the tree’s natural form provides a striking contrast to the restaurant’s warm, contemporary finishes.
Integrated into the dining layout, the Olive tree does more than provide a botanical focal point. Its spreading canopy helps define the seating areas below, creating a more intimate atmosphere while maintaining the openness and energy of the restaurant.
Pendant lighting woven throughout the canopy further integrates the tree with the interior. As the foliage catches the warm light, the tree takes on a dramatic presence that complements the wood tones, leather seating, and ambient lighting throughout the space.
