Laguna Hills, CA –
A Hospitality Arrival Moment Rooted in Nature
At voco Laguna Hills by IHG, International Greenscapes™ helped create a hospitality experience that feels warm, sculptural, and deeply connected to place.
The project centers on a custom multi-trunk Steel Art olive tree designed for the hotel lobby. Standing approximately 16 feet tall with an 8- to 9-foot canopy, the tree brings natural scale and softness into the heart of the lounge, creating a memorable arrival moment for guests.
Crafted with hand-carved, hand-painted, and hand-detailed finishes over a steel structure, the olive tree was designed to rise from a sculpted base with moss, lighting integration, and a refined slate-inspired finish. The result is both architectural and organic — a focal point that defines the room without overwhelming it.
The project also includes a Steel Art pine bonsai for the restaurant, positioned within a circular wall opening and designed to be viewed from both sides. Framed almost like a living artwork, the bonsai adds a quieter, more contemplative biophilic moment to the dining experience.
Together, the installations show how permanent botanical design can shape the emotional rhythm of a hotel: arrival, gathering, pause, and discovery.
For guests, the result is immediate.
The space feels considered.
The brand feels elevated.
And nature becomes part of the experience.
